An opportunity exists to join the International Securities Lending Association as Media and Communications Officer. The position will report to the ISLA COO but working with a small team at ISLA and the key area of focus will be on communications to our membership and the broader industry.

The successful candidate will require a passion for corporate communications, with experience of managing a website and social media program who is able to present analytics in an insightful and digestible manner, building engagement with our members. The ideal candidate will be, organised, client focused, proactive, creative and an outstanding communicator.

About ISLA
ISLA is a trade association that represents the interests of participants in the securities lending and borrowing markets and has over 120 members from across Europe and the Middle East. It currently employs four full time roles, a Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Relationship Manager and Business Manager, and now intends to expand with the addition of a Media and Communications Officer. ISLA also works with a small panel of experienced industry consultants. \

The objectives of the association include: representing members’ common interests, supporting the development of a sound regulatory and legal framework for the business, publishing best practice standards, helping to educate policymakers and other key stakeholders, and communicating matters of general interest to our members.

Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing our communications strategy to our members and the broader industry. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Website and Social Media - Management of our existing content and publication on our website of updates along with the utilisation of Social Media (e.g. Twitter and LinkedIn) to promote our news updates, publications, events, etc. This will also include analysis of statistics from website and social media accounts to optimize our positioning of content. An additional role will be to work with our developers in the creation of a Mobile App for ISLA

  • Email Communications - Construction of HTML style email communication to our members

  • Researcher – Proactively seek out news items relating to the industry around key regulatory, legal or tax issues in order to communicate updates to our members via the various media channels

  • Membership Database - Manage our membership database including the adding, amending or removal of contacts and ensuring our contact lists are accurate and up to date

  • Publication of Reports - For ISLA’s Quarterly Report, provide detailed analysis of data, develop graphs and using publishing skills, produce the final report combining the graphs and written content provide by colleagues. In addition, manage the process for the updating of our quarterly presentation and the production and completion of presentations required for speeches, roundtables and meetings

  • Seminars, small conferences and roundtables logistics - Manage the logistics for seminars, small conferences and roundtables including the coordination of our working group meetings

  • Subscription management - Manage our subscription service utilizing technology to compile and distribute invoices efficiently to our members on an annual basis and new members as they join ISLA

Skills Required
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Significant experience of arranging and publishing content on a WordPress website platform as well as using social media including Twitter and LinkedIn

  • Experience of using analytics packages and social media tools to produce traffic reports

  • Significant experience of designing and sending HTML emails, using Dotmailer or MailChimp, to a large distribution

  • Have advanced excel skills in order to manipulate, analyse and organize large quantities of data in an expeditious manner

  • Have experience of managing a client database, OpenCRM or equivalent

  • Have experience of publishing high quality reports and documents using Adobe InDesign, MS Publisher or equivalent

  • Have experience of MS Office

  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skill

  • Be self-motivated, flexible and have a proactive attitude

  • Have strong organisational skills including the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities

  • Experience of working within professional / membership organisations would be an advantage

  • Some knowledge of Securities Lending would be beneficial
